Head and Neck Cancer
Includes cancer that involves our lips, oral cavity, nasal cavity, sinuses, pharynx, or larynx (voice box). Approximately 90% of these cancers are squamous cell. These tumors often spread to the lymph nodes in the neck, which is often the first sign of the disease at the time of diagnosis. Head and Neck cancers are strongly associated with environmental and lifestyle risk factors including tobacco use, alcohol, and exposure to chemicals/irritants in ones workplace. Treatment for these tumors includes chemotherapy, radiation, surgical removal, or a combination of modalities.
