Delta Medix Patient General Information

The thyroid gland is an important gland of the endocrine system.  It is located in the front of the neck right below our voice box.  This gland produces hormones that control the way the cells of our body uses energy or metabolism.  Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid releases too much of these hormones over a short period of time.  Symptoms of this include difficulty concentrating, fatigue, intolerance to heat, increased appetite, increased sweating, restlessness, irregular periods in women, and weight gain.
