Ossiculoplasty

An ossiculoplasty is performed to restore hearing loss that is conductive in nature. The middle ear contains three (3) ear bones: the malleus, the incus and the stapes.  When any of these bones is “out of position” or affected by disease, reconstruction can be performed using ones own bones or a prosthetic device used to replace the affected bone(s).  It is scheduled under general anesthesia, on an outpatient basis and associated with very little in the way of pain.
