Sialolithotomy

Sialolithotomy is excision into a salivary gland or its duct to remove a calculus (stone).  Depending on the location of the stone, this can be performed in the office using just a local anesthetic or might need to be performed in the operating room under general anesthesia.  In some instances, the gland, itself, must be removed.
