Turbinate Hypertrophy (enlargement)

Turbinates are spongy structures inside the nose that help direct airflow. These can become enlarged by allergies, chronic sinus inflammation or environmental irritants.  When they are enlarged, they can cause symptoms of obstruction.  Turbinates can be surgically reduced using a technique called coblation.
