    Dr. James Roche was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and attended The University of Scranton, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Roche received his Doctorate of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, and his surgical training from St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.

    Dr. Roche is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He established his surgical practice in Scranton in 1991 and has special interest and extensive training in the areas of vascular diseases and laparoscopic surgery.

    He is Co-Director of the Delta Medix Vascular Lab and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at The Commonwealth Medical College.

    A native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Dr. Hughes graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bucknell University and received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. He completed a General Surgery residency at Abington Memorial Hospital and a Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and received research awards at both institutions.

    Board Certified in General and Colorectal Surgery, Dr. Hughes provides surgical and medical care for a wide range of colon, anorectal and small intestinal diseases including colonoscopy, minimally invasive surgery and anorectal procedures. He has interest in all aspects of colorectal surgery, more specifically colon cancer screening and minimally invasive surgery.

    Before joining Delta Medix, Dr. Hughes practiced in Burlington County, New Jersey since 1999. Consistently named one of America’s Top Surgeons according to the Consumers’ Research Council of America since 2010, Dr. Hughes was also named Top Doc by South Jersey Magazine four years in a row and New Jersey Magazine in 2016.

    Dr. Susan Summerton is a native of Philadelphia where she graduated with honors from Temple University. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Medicine from Temple University Medical School and completed an internship at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, where she received the Outstanding Teacher award. Dr. Summerton completed her diagnostic radiology residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where she was Chief Resident.

    In the nearly 25 years spent as a teacher at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Dr. Summerton was Section Chief of GI Radiology and Director of Medical Student Education. She published several chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals and lectured throughout the nation on many topics including body, musculoskeletal women’s imaging. Her expertise includes breast and body imaging and has worked with 3D mammography (tomosynthesis) for nearly a decade.

    Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology, Dr. Summerton brings her knowledge in breast and body imaging to Delta Medix and plans to continue teaching students, medical professionals and community members in the Scranton region.
