Pilonidal Disease

Pilonidal disease is a chronic infection of the skin in the area of the buttocks crease and commonly results from a reaction of the hairs imbedded in the skin most commonly in the cleft between the buttocks. The disease occurs more commonly in males than females and usually occurs between puberty and age 40.
