Transanal Excision

Transanal excision of rectal lesions is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed through the anal opening.  The procedure removes only the rectal tumor and a small amount of surrounding tissue while leaving the anus and sphincter intact.  It eliminates the need for a permanent colostomy and allows bowel function to be retained by the individual.
